German football club supports Pyunik in the fan section during match against Noah

During the Armenian Premier League match between Pyunik and Noah, an unusual group of supporters wearing green shirts could be seen in the Yerevan club’s fan section. As it turned out, they were not just foreign groundhoppers, nor were they a personal support group for the German referee team officiating the match.

The foreign guests were players of TuS Ekern, a football club from the municipality of Bad Zwischenahn in Germany. The team competes in Germany’s First Regional League of amateur football.

The German footballers had planned their trip to Yerevan for this weekend back in March. The purpose of the visit was not only to get acquainted with Armenian football, but also with local culture. The club had also announced the upcoming trip on its social media accounts, and the guests even prepared special shirts for their small Armenian trip.

The match itself, however, was not the most spectacular one: Pyunik and Noah played out a goalless draw. Still, for the players of TuS Ekern, the trip became a memorable experience. In the fan section, they took part in a real cultural exchange with Pyunik supporters: they supported the team together, joined in the chants and became part of the lively atmosphere in the stands.

Such a serious and heartfelt approach by a German amateur club to a football trip deserves respect. For Armenian fans, it also became a pleasant episode: a match in the Armenian championship attracted attention not only from local supporters, but also from guests from Germany.
