Artur Gharibyan scores his first goal of the season for Rodina

Armenia U21 forward Artur Gharibyan scored in Rodina’s Russian FONBET Cup group-stage opener against Rubin Kazan.

Gharibyan was named in Rodina’s starting lineup and played the entire match. In the 78th minute, the forward converted a pass from José Reina to score his team’s fourth goal.

It was the first goal of the season for the 20-year-old. Gharibyan had previously contributed to a goalscoring attack in the Russian Premier League when the ball ended up in the net following his shot, although the goal was officially recorded as an own goal.

Rodina secured a convincing 5–0 victory. Magomedkhabib Abdusalamov scored twice, while Andrey Egorychev and Artem Maksimenko also found the net.

Armenia international midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu was not included in Rubin’s squad. He has yet to make an appearance this season due to injury.
