Krasnodar lost to Moscow’s Spartak in the Russian Cup Super Final. Regular time ended in a 1-1 draw, while the red-and-whites proved stronger in the penalty shootout.
The scoring was opened in the 37th minute, when Spartak midfielder Pablo Solari put his team ahead. After the break, Krasnodar managed to get back into the game. In the 57th minute, Douglas Augusto scored the equalizer, restoring parity.
Eduard Spertsyan played an important role in Krasnodar’s goalscoring move. The Armenian national team midfielder launched an excellent combination from the center of the pitch, after which Krasnodar brought the attack to a successful finish.
In the penalty shootout, Spertsyan confidently converted his spot-kick, but his team still suffered defeat. For Krasnodar, Boselli and Lenini failed to convert their attempts.
As a result, Krasnodar finished the season without trophies. The team came very close both to winning the league title and to lifting the Russian Cup, but in the decisive moments both trophies went to their rivals.
