Two-time U17 world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Janes Nazaryan commented on his victory at the World Championships after returning from Baku.
“My goal was to become world champion, and that was what I had been working toward. The tournament went well and according to our plan. There were some minor mistakes that could have caused problems, but, thank God, I managed to overcome everything and achieve my goal.
I’m in a very good mood. I’m happy that I was able to make my people proud and raise our flag high. I wasn’t one hundred percent certain that I would win, but my coach helped me stay calm, and I never doubted my own abilities,” Nazaryan said.
In the final of the U17 World Championships in Baku, Janes Nazaryan defeated Russia’s Aslan Dzuev 4–3. The victory earned the wrestler his second world championship title.
