Artur Gharibyan Makes Russian Premier League Debut Against Rostov

Twenty-year-old Armenia youth international Artur Gharibyan made his first appearance in the Russian Premier League. The forward came on for Moscow-based Rodina in the 60th minute of their second-round match against Rostov.

Gharibyan was directly involved in his team’s second goal. In the 74th minute, his shot took a deflection off Rostov defender Umar Sako and ended up in the net. The goal was officially recorded as an own goal.

During his time on the pitch, the Armenian forward registered two more attempts on goal, made one interception and won one aerial duel. Statistical platform SofaScore gave Gharibyan a rating of 6.3.

The match at Arena Khimki ended in a 4–2 victory for Rostov. Iker Pozo opened the scoring in the fourth minute, netting Rodina’s first-ever goal in the Russian Premier League. Ivan Komarov converted a penalty in the 16th minute to equalise.

Rostov took the lead in the second half following an own goal by Mitya Krizhan, before Andrey Langovich extended the visitors’ advantage. Sako’s own goal allowed the hosts to reduce the deficit, but Daniil Shantaliy scored late in the game to complete the scoring.

Andrey Langovich was named the WINLINE Player of the Match by the MATCH PREMIER expert.

Rostov secured their first victory of the new season, while Russian Premier League newcomers Rodina suffered their second consecutive defeat. The Moscow side had previously lost to Spartak in the opening round.

In the next round, Rostov will visit CSKA on August 8, while Rodina will face Zenit in Saint Petersburg on August 9.
