The Armenia national futsal team have learned their opponents in the main qualifying round of the 2028 Futsal World Cup.
Following the draw, Armenia were placed in Group 1. The Armenian team will face Hungary and Sweden.
This will be a special qualifying campaign for Armenian futsal. For the first time, Armenia will begin Futsal World Cup qualifying directly from the main round. In recent years, the team has made significant progress on the international stage and will now have the chance to confirm its new status in the battle for a place at the world tournament.
A total of 36 national teams will take part in the main qualifying round. They have been divided into 12 groups of three teams each. The matches will be played in a home-and-away format.
The main round fixtures are scheduled across several international windows. The matches will begin in October 2026 and run until March 2027.
The 12 group winners, as well as the four best runners-up, will advance directly to the elite round of qualifying. The remaining eight second-placed teams will continue their campaign through the main round play-offs.
Armenia therefore face a difficult but interesting group, where every match will be highly important in the fight to continue the qualifying campaign.
