U20 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships draw: Armenian wrestlers learn their first opponents

The draw for the 2026 U20 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships took place in Skopje. The tournament will start on July 6 in the capital of North Macedonia and will run until July 12.

The Greco-Roman wrestlers will be the first to take to the mat. On the opening day of competition, qualification bouts will be held in the 55, 63, 77, 87 and 130 kg weight categories. Armenia will be represented in these divisions by Edgar Petrosyan, Alex Margaryan, Samvel Terteryan, Yurik Petrosyan and Leva Shukhyan.

Special attention will be on the heavyweight 130 kg category, where Leva Shukhyan will begin his campaign directly from the quarterfinals. His first opponent will be Musei Huseyn of Azerbaijan.

The rest of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestlers will begin competing on July 7. On that day, qualification bouts will be held in the 60, 67, 72, 82 and 97 kg weight categories.

The U20 European Championships will take place from July 6 to 12. The competition will begin with Greco-Roman wrestling, followed by the women’s events, while the freestyle wrestlers will close the tournament.

The finals in the first five Greco-Roman weight categories — 55, 63, 77, 87 and 130 kg — will be held on July 7. The final bouts in the 60, 67, 72, 82 and 97 kg categories will take place on July 8.
