Incredible performance by Yurik Mkhitaryan at the U20 World Championship and reaching the final (VIDEO)

Armenian wrestler Yurik Mkhitaryan (60 kg) has reached the final of the U20 World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship 2025, held in Bulgaria. The 17-year-old athlete claimed four early victories and confidently advanced to the decisive match of the tournament.

All of Mkhitaryan’s bouts ended in the first round, as he showed clear dominance over each of his opponents.

In the semifinal, the Armenian faced Indian wrestler Suraj — the reigning U20 Asian Champion and 2022 U17 World Champion. Despite Suraj’s experience in senior competitions, Yurik left him no chance, winning in just one minute with a score of 9:0.

In the final, Mkhitaryan will meet Azerbaijani wrestler Ayhan Javadov — the reigning U20 European Champion and 2024 U17 World Champion. In the semifinal, Javadov defeated Georgian Vakhtang Lolua with a score of 7:1.

Another Armenian wrestler, Martik Petrosyan (82 kg), also competed in the semifinals today. He lost to Russia’s Mikhail Shkarin (0:9) and will fight for bronze tomorrow. Shkarin will face Kazakhstan’s Dias Seitkaliev in the final.
