Yura Zalyan Wins Bronze at Home European Karate Championship

Armenian karateka Yura Zalyan (60 kg) has claimed the bronze medal at the 2025 EKF European Karate Championships, currently being held in Yerevan. In the bronze medal match, Zalyan defeated Kosovo’s Islam Selmani with a score of 5–3.

Throughout the tournament, Zalyan delivered impressive performances, securing victories over athletes from Croatia, Belarus, and Denmark. His only loss came against Russia’s Ahmed Ahmedov, who eventually reached the final.

This is Armenia’s second medal at the home championship. Earlier, Gor Nersisyan (84 kg) also won bronze. Until today, Armenia had never won a medal at any EKF European Championship in history.
