At the ongoing EKF European Karate Championships 2025 in Yerevan, Armenian athlete Gor Nersisyan (in the under 84 kg weight category) won a bronze medal, becoming the first athlete in Armenia’s history to reach the podium at the senior continental championship.
In the bronze medal match, Nersisyan secured a confident 5:2 victory over Slovak competitor Šimon Sečkar. On his way to the medal, he also defeated opponents from Romania, Montenegro, and Kosovo, losing only in the semifinal to a representative of Croatia.
Gor Nersisyan is the reigning U21 European Champion, and his performance at the senior level is a strong testament to his high class and consistency.
The European Championships continue, and Team Armenia still has a chance for more medals. Tomorrow, Yura Zalyan (60 kg) will fight for bronze.
