Yerevan-based Unisport secured their first victory in the main round of the 2026/27 UEFA Futsal Champions League. In their second Group 6 match, the Armenian champions defeated Luxembourg's Differdange 5-3, keeping their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.
Putrus Vasiliev, Artur Melkonyan, Elisandro, Garegin Mashumyan and Mihran Dermenjyan scored for the Armenian side, with each player contributing one goal to a crucial victory for the Yerevan club.
Unisport had suffered a 2-0 defeat to Lithuania's Kauno Žalgiris in their opening match, making a positive result in the second round essential to maintaining their chances of progressing from the group.
In the other Group 6 fixture, Kauno Žalgiris and Greece's Doukas played out a thrilling 4-4 draw, ensuring that the battle for qualification remains open heading into the final matchday.
What Do Unisport Need to Reach the Playoffs?
Unisport will face Greek side Doukas in their third and final group match. To keep their European campaign alive, the Armenian champions need two results to go their way:
-
Defeat Doukas in their final group-stage match.
-
Hope Kauno Žalgiris drop points against Differdange, meaning the Lithuanian side must fail to win.
Both decisive Group 6 fixtures are scheduled for Friday, October 30.
All Group 6 matches are being held in Luxembourg. For Unisport, Armenia's representatives in Europe's premier club futsal competition, the upcoming clash will be decisive in their bid to extend their Champions League campaign.
