Vrej Chiloyan switched to futsal and has already won his first trophy with “Yerevan”

Pyunik academy graduate Vrej Chiloyan has made the move to futsal and has already made an impact — he became an Armenian Cup winner with FC Yerevan. In the final against Logicon, the 23-year-old winger scored twice, helping his new team lift the prestigious trophy.

In addition, Chiloyan played a key role in Yerevan’s run to the Armenian Premier Futsal League playoff final — he scored in nearly every playoff match. The final games against Unisport are scheduled for May 21 and 25.

It’s worth noting that in January 2025, Chiloyan left Gandzasar and made a surprising career decision by joining a futsal team.

Prior to this, his football career was developing quite successfully. He scored 19 goals for Pyunik II in the 2022/23 Armenian First League season and later played for Van in the Premier League, where he scored 4 goals in 18 appearances. He also has experience playing for Armenia’s youth national teams.

If Chiloyan continues performing at this level, he could be included in Armenia’s squad for the UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 — and his rapid transition to a new sport could prove to be a truly fateful move.

It should also be noted that FC Yerevan features several other former Armenian Premier League footballers, including Rafik Melikyan and Migran Dermenjyan. However, the most accomplished among them in big football is the team captain Garegin Mashumyan, who once scored in Champions League qualifying while playing for Babants (now Urartu).
