First International Tour of Armenia Cycling Race Concludes in Yerevan

The inaugural international multi-stage Tour of Armenia cycling race concluded in Yerevan on September 13 after taking riders through several regions of the country.

Italian cyclist Simone Raccani won the overall classification. Denmark’s Kevin Bille finished second, while another Italian rider, Luca Covili, completed the podium in third place.

Among the Armenian representatives, Kirill Miller recorded the best result, finishing 38th overall.

The Tour of Armenia consisted of four stages. The total route covered approximately 587 kilometers, with a cumulative elevation gain of around 5,300 meters. The cyclists raced through the regions of Gegharkunik, Tavush, Lori and Aragatsotn, while the final stage was held in Yerevan.

The race schedule:

• September 10 — Gavar – Mets Masrik, 135 km;
• September 11 — Kirants – Stepanavan, 176 km;
• September 12 — Martuni – Dilijan / Lake Parz, 164 km;
• September 13 — Yerevan, 110 km, 10 laps.

The competition featured riders and teams from Japan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Thailand, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Germany and other countries.

One of the distinguishing features of the inaugural Tour of Armenia was not only its sporting aspect but also its tourism component. The route passed through some of Armenia’s most scenic areas, while television broadcasts introduced viewers to the country’s history, cultural heritage and well-known tourist attractions.

The race broadcasts were available to an international audience, making the Tour of Armenia an additional opportunity to showcase Armenia and its tourism potential to viewers around the world.

The final stage in Yerevan brought the four-day race to a close and crowned Italy’s Simone Raccani as the first-ever winner of the Tour of Armenia.
