UEFA this morning divided the teams into groups ahead of the draws for the first qualifying rounds of the Champions League and the Conference League. Armenian clubs have learned the list of their potential opponents at the start of the European season.
Ararat-Armenia’s potential opponents in the Champions League
Armenian champions Ararat-Armenia will begin their campaign in the first qualifying round of the Champions League. The Yerevan club’s possible opponents are:
Shamrock Rovers — Ireland
KuPS — Finland
Lincoln Red Imps — Gibraltar
Riga — Latvia
Flora — Estonia
Larne — Northern Ireland
The New Saints — Wales
Overall, Ararat-Armenia can be considered fairly fortunate with the grouping. The team has received what is perhaps the more manageable of the two possible subgroups. However, there should be no expectation of an easy ride: in European competitions, even these opponents can cause serious problems, especially in away matches.
The draw for the first qualifying round of the Champions League will take place today at 18:00 Yerevan time.

Pyunik’s potential opponents in the Conference League
Pyunik will start from the first qualifying round of the Conference League. The Yerevan club’s potential opponents are:
Sileks — North Macedonia
Dinamo City — Albania
Virtus — San Marino
Mornar — Montenegro
Marsaxlokk — Malta
For Pyunik, the list of possible opponents looks quite favorable. Regardless of the draw, the Yerevan side will be favorites in their tie and should set themselves the task of confidently progressing to the next round.

Alashkert’s potential opponents in the Conference League
Alashkert will also begin their European campaign in the first qualifying round of the Conference League. The team’s possible opponents are:
Torpedo Kutaisi — Georgia
Velež — Bosnia and Herzegovina
Yelimay — Kazakhstan
Elbasani — Albania
Petrovac — Montenegro

Unlike Pyunik, Alashkert were noticeably less fortunate with the grouping. The list includes several teams capable of putting up serious resistance. Ties against Torpedo, Velež and Yelimay could be especially difficult.
The draw for the first qualifying round of the Conference League will take place today at 20:00 Yerevan time.
For Armenian clubs, the start of the European season begins with an important day: the results of the draw will largely determine not only the prospects of reaching the next rounds, but also the overall mood ahead of the European campaign.
