Tatev Hakobyan Ends Career After Competing at the 2026 European Championships in Batumi

Armenian weightlifter Tatev Hakobyan has announced the end of her professional career. The 30-year-old athlete made her final appearance on the platform at the 2026 European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi.

Hakobyan competed in the +86 kg weight category and, after a successful lift, demonstratively removed her weightlifting shoes, signaling her retirement. She finished 12th overall with a total of 231 kg in the combined event (106 kg in the snatch and 125 kg in the clean and jerk).

After her performance, the athlete stated that she was satisfied with her career and believed it was time to devote more attention to her family.

Throughout her career, Hakobyan achieved notable success on the international stage, becoming a silver and bronze medalist at the European Championships and winning a World Cup stage.

Results in the +86 kg category (women):

  1. Emily Campbell (Great Britain) — 276 kg (117+159) — European record
  2. Solfrid Koanda (Norway) — 275 kg (119+156)
  3. Anastasiia Hotfrid (Georgia) — 262 kg (118+144)

The European Championships in Batumi became a symbolic conclusion to Tatev Hakobyan’s career, as she leaves a significant mark on Armenian and European weightlifting.
