Armenian karateka Suren Harutyunyan has secured his participation in the World Karate Championship, which will take place from November 27 to 30 in Cairo, Egypt, according to the press service of the National Karate Federation of Armenia.
During the qualification tournament held in Paris, Harutyunyan, competing in the under-75 kg weight category, defeated opponents from Switzerland, Bulgaria, and South Korea, confidently advancing through the entire qualification stage.
Earlier, two other Armenian athletes had already qualified for the World Championship — Yura Zalyan (under 60 kg) and Gor Nersisyan (under 84 kg).
In addition, Lena Gyulumyan, Anita Makyan, and Mikhail Mkhitaryan also took part in the Paris qualification event but were unable to secure spots for the World Championship.
Thus, the Armenian national team will head to Cairo with three athletes, each aiming to achieve strong results at the upcoming global tournament.
