20-year-old Armenian forward Stephan Soghomonian, who plays for the SMU Mustangs of Southern Methodist University, has been named Player of the Week in the U.S. college soccer league for the second time this season. He also received the title of Offensive Player of the Week from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Soghomonian delivered a phenomenal run of form, scoring 8 goals in his last 4 matches. Last week, he was the key figure in both of SMU’s victories — a 3–2 win over Boston College and a 2–0 win over Central Arkansas. In the latter, he came off the bench to score a brace, and then went on to net a hat-trick in an ACC match that earned his team three crucial points.

Remarkably, all five of SMU’s goals last week were scored by Soghomonian. In total, the Mustangs have scored 9 goals in their last 4 matches, with 8 coming from the Armenian striker.
TopDrawerSoccer named Soghomonian the National Player of the Week, while the ACC honored him as the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Earlier in October, Soghomonian had already received the same recognition, further solidifying his status as one of the most prolific and exciting players in U.S. college soccer.
Before joining SMU, Soghomonian played for the youth teams of Fortuna Düsseldorf and Unterrath in Germany. In the current college season, he has made 13 appearances and scored 9 goals.
