Krasnodar captain and Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan has commented on rumors about possible interest from French club Marseille and also spoke about his attitude toward the prospect of moving to a European club.
Recently, media reports suggested that Marseille could consider the 25-year-old Armenian footballer during the summer transfer window. However, Spertsyan himself said in an interview with the YouTube channel O, rodnoy futbol! that he was hearing about this option for the first time.
“There is a large Armenian diaspora in Marseille,” Spertsyan noted with a smile, before adding that he actually had no information about any interest from the French club.
The footballer also answered a question about his future and a possible departure from Krasnodar. According to Spertsyan, he extended his contract with the Russian club last season, although this information had not previously been announced publicly.
At the same time, the midfielder does not hide the fact that he would like to test himself in Europe. Spertsyan emphasized that his position on this matter has not changed: if a truly good offer arrives, the parties will be able to sit down and negotiate.
“Of course, I want to try myself in Europe, but we will see how it goes. If there is a good offer, we will sit down and negotiate,” Spertsyan said.
This season, Eduard Spertsyan remains one of Krasnodar’s key players. Across all competitions, he has made 41 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 18 assists. The midfielder’s current contract with the club runs until 2029.
According to Transfermarkt, the market value of Krasnodar’s captain is estimated at €25 million. Spertsyan continues to be one of the most valuable and sought-after Armenian footballers, while the topic of his possible move to a European league has remained relevant for more than one season.
