Armenia’s teams claim convincing wins in Round 2 of the 2026 Chess Olympiad

Armenia’s men’s and women’s national teams successfully completed their matches in the second round of the 2026 Chess Olympiad. The men’s team cruised to a 3.5–0.5 victory over Scotland, while the Armenian women defeated Singapore 3–1.
Armenia men’s team routs Scotland
In the second round, Armenia’s men’s team secured a convincing victory over Scotland.
Haik Martirosyan recorded the only draw for Armenia, while Shant Sargsyan, Gabriel Sargissian and Manuel Petrosyan all won their games.

It was Armenia’s second consecutive victory at the start of the Olympiad. In the opening round, the Armenian team defeated Barbados.
In Round 3, which will take place on September 18, Armenia will face Sweden.
Armenia women’s team defeats Singapore
Armenia’s women’s team also enjoyed a successful second round, defeating Singapore 3–1.
Lilit Mkrtchian, Mariam Mkrtchyan and Susanna Gaboyan won their respective games, while Anahit Mkrtchyan was defeated by Lea Rice.
