Armenia learn first opponents at U20 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships

The draw for the 2026 U20 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships was held in Skopje on July 9. The tournament will begin on July 10 in the capital of North Macedonia, where the Greco-Roman wrestling competition had earlier come to an end.

Armenia will be represented in all ten weight categories. Armenian wrestlers will have their first bouts on July 10 and 11.

First opponents of Armenian wrestlers

In the 57 kg weight category, Sasha Petrosyan will begin his campaign in the round of 32 against Pavlo Ilnytskyi of Poland.

Gagik Ghazaryan will compete in the 61 kg round of 16 against Romania’s Gabriel Mihalcea.

In the 65 kg category, Aren Hayrapetyan will start with a bout against Georgia’s Tengiz Barbakadze.

David Davtyan will face Belgium’s Movsar Chupalaev in the 70 kg category.

In the 74 kg category, Vladimir Azaryan will have his first bout against Eli Soltanov of Israel.

In the 79 kg category, Narek Nikoghosyan will begin the tournament against Aliaksei Kuryla of Belarus.

Razmik Yepremyan will face Israel’s Tomer Drozhnyak in the 86 kg category.

In the 92 kg category, Narek Ikilikyan will start from the round of 32 against Yehor Khorokh of Ukraine.

Hakob Hakobyan will compete in the 97 kg round of 16 against Valentin Borisov of Bulgaria.

In the heavyweight 125 kg category, Henrik Haykyan will begin his campaign against David Erhan of Moldova.
