The Armenia women's national tennis team secured a confident victory in Group C of the Billie Jean King Cup (Group III, Europe Zone), held in Moldova.
In the final group stage match, the Armenian team defeated Malta:
Alina Soghomnyan def. Cheyenne Joyce Borg — 7-6 (7-5), 6-1
Ani Amiraghyan def. Elaine Genovese — 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
Notably, Alina Soghomonyan is the daughter of Artur Soghomonyan — more details HERE.
Thus, Armenia finished the group stage with three wins from three matches, having previously defeated Andorra and San Marino.
Next up is the playoff — a final mini-tournament between the three group winners. Along with Armenia, Finland has qualified, as well as the winner of the Moldova vs. Ireland match (ongoing at the time of publication). Only one team will earn promotion to Group II of the tournament.
