Armenia announce squad for home Davis Cup tournament

The squad of the Armenia men’s national tennis team has been announced for the Davis Cup Group IV matches, which will take place in Tsaghkadzor.
The home tournament will be held from June 16 to 20. Armenia will host Davis Cup matches for the first time in 18 years, making this an important event for Armenian tennis.
Six players have been included in Armenia’s squad:
Mikael Avanesyan, 18 — ITF 849
Henrik Nikoghosyan, 38
Avetik Ghazaryan, 18
Mikael Avetisyan, 30
David Poghosyan, 18 — ITF 1644
Samvel Aghayan, 18 — ITF 2274
The national teams of Albania, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta and San Marino will also compete at the tournament in Tsaghkadzor. The teams will battle for promotion and a place in Davis Cup Group III.
For Armenia, the upcoming tournament will be a chance to return to a higher level. In 2025, the Armenian team competed in Group III but finished last and was relegated to Group IV.
It should be noted that Armenia’s roster includes several young players. Four members of the team are 18 years old, and the home tournament could become an important stage in their careers.
