32-year-old Armenia national team forward Sargis Adamyan is training with Cologne’s reserve squad (U21) and has firmly refused to terminate his contract without compensation.
According to Geissblog, the player earns over €100,000 per month at the club and considers his current deal the last major contract of his career. With about 11 months remaining until its expiry, Adamyan intends to secure a high six-figure payout in case of a possible termination.
Previously, the striker had a preliminary agreement with third-tier side VfL Osnabrück, but the deal collapsed. The source reports that the parties had almost finalized the transfer, but the player’s representatives demanded improved terms, which led to the breakdown of negotiations.
Cologne and Adamyan have about four weeks left before the summer transfer window closes to find a solution. Otherwise, the Armenian forward may spend the remainder of his contract outside the first team.
