Armenian forward Sargis Adamyan, who was already expected to join German third-tier club Osnabrück, has so far been unable to reach an agreement with Cologne on an early termination of his contract (Express.de).
The striker’s current deal with Cologne runs for another year and is one of the most expensive in the club. Adamyan remains the team’s highest-paid player, but he is not part of the coaching staff’s plans for this season and will not play.
Negotiations between the parties are ongoing, but the chances of reaching an agreement are slim. Cologne does not want to pay compensation for the termination, while Adamyan is not ready to leave without such a condition.
The 32-year-old can be understood — this is probably his last big contract in his career. However, there is a risk that if he misses the entire season, it will be extremely difficult for him to return to top-level football.
Adamyan spent the end of last season on loan at Jahn Regensburg, which was relegated from the 2. Bundesliga. There, he played 16 matches and scored 2 goals.
