“Pyunik” Sensationally Lost to “Ararat” in the Final Minutes
One of the most unexpected outcomes of the season occurred in Round 22 of the Armenian Premier League: “Pyunik” lost 0–1 at home to “Ararat.”
The decisive goal was scored in stoppage time. Kalifala Doumbia netted the winner goal.
For “Ararat,” this victory is of special importance: prior to this, the team had secured only one win in the current league campaign. Despite the success, the club remains at the bottom of the standings with 9 points.
Meanwhile, “Pyunik” missed the chance to move into first place. Artak Oseyan’s side stays in third position with 41 points — a win in this match would have taken them to the top of the table.
Post-Match Comment by Artak Oseyan
After the game, Pyunik head coach Artak Oseyan took full responsibility for the result:
“Today was a very unfortunate day for us. We failed to convert many scoring chances, but I do not blame the players in any way — I am the only one responsible for this defeat.
Our players worked hard and gave everything on the pitch, but there are days when you simply cannot achieve your goal. I repeat: all the responsibility is on me, and I fully understand how important the points we lost were.
I also understand our fans. I am confident that our team is mentally strong enough to recover from this bitter defeat and come back stronger.”
