Five Armenian fighters advance to the quarterfinals of the IMMAF-2025 World MMA Championships

On September 28, the second day of the IMMAF-2025 World MMA Championships for adults and youth concluded in Tbilisi. This stage featured all the Round of 16 bouts. Team Armenia was represented by six fighters, five of whom successfully made it to the quarterfinals.
Youth Tournament
In the 70.3 kg weight division, Hamlet Aslanyan defeated Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Beisembaev via submission in the second round and advanced to the quarterfinals, where he will face Ibrokhim Rahimzoda (Tajikistan).
In the 52.2 kg division, Ashot Margaryan will start his campaign directly from the quarterfinals.
Adult Tournament
In the 56.7 kg category, Artur Asoyan earned a dominant victory over France’s Reda Haif, finishing the fight with a first-round submission. He will face Shukurllo Ubaidov (Tajikistan) in the quarterfinals.
In the 61.2 kg division, Samvel Marukyan defeated Eufrat Avdoyan in a tough match by split decision and also advanced to the quarterfinals.
In the 70.3 kg division, Tigran Nazaryan advanced without a fight, as his English opponent failed to make weight. Tomorrow, Nazaryan will face Mehmet Borhan (France).
In the 74.8 kg weight category, Spartak Mikaelyan secured an impressive win over Patrick Pikes (Czech Republic) with a third-round TKO. In the quarterfinals, he will meet Jordan Scully (Ireland), the reigning European youth champion.
In the same division, Manvel Barseghyan lost to Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Yarkov by unanimous decision, ending his tournament run with one victory.
Thus, Armenia continues its campaign at the IMMAF-2025 World Championships in Tbilisi with six fighters in the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal bouts will take place on September 29.
