The President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), Armen Melikbekyan, has officially become a candidate for the elections to the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The voting will take place on April 3, 2025, in Belgrade as part of the 49th UEFA Congress.
The UEFA Executive Committee is the key governing body of European football, making crucial decisions on the development, policies, and strategies of the organization’s tournaments. This year, 11 candidates from different countries are competing for seven seats on the committee:
- Dominique Blanc (Switzerland)
- Gabriele Gravina (Italy)
- Cezary Kulesza (Poland)
- Marijan Kustić (Croatia)
- Ari Lahti (Finland)
- Armen Melikbekyan (Armenia)
- Frank Paauw (Netherlands)
- Aivar Pohlak (Estonia)
- Pedro Proença (Portugal)
- Hugo Quaderer (Liechtenstein)
- Hans-Joachim Watzke (Germany)
The UEFA Executive Committee elections are held every four years. If Armen Melikbekyan is successfully elected, he will become Armenia’s first representative in this body and will have the opportunity to promote Armenian football’s interests at the highest level of European football governance.
The UEFA Executive Committee elections will take place on April 3 in Belgrade.
