Both Kapan-based clubs, "Gandzasar" and "Syunik," support expanding the Armenian Premier League to 12 teams with a three-round format. However, their views differ on certain other aspects of reforming the national football championship.
FC "Syunik" supports the transition to a "Spring-Autumn" system, arguing that playing more matches in the summer would allow teams to better prepare for European competitions and avoid difficult winter weather conditions. The club suggests that the home team for the third round should be determined by a draw. Additionally, "Syunik" advocates for a fixed competition calendar that would be approved in advance for the convenience of the clubs.
Regarding the limit on foreign players, "Syunik" proposes a strict restriction: no more than six foreign players should be allowed on the field simultaneously, and no more than 11 in the match squad. At the same time, the club supports the idea that naturalized players who have spent three consecutive seasons in the Armenian championship should be considered as local players.
On the other hand, FC "Gandzasar" does not support changing the league format and advocates maintaining the current limit on foreign players (requiring three Armenian players in the squad) or even tightening it further to two. The club also proposes increasing the mandatory number of Armenian players in the starting lineup in the First League to six to ensure the development of local footballers.
Both clubs have a positive view of the BKMA project. However, "Gandzasar" believes that the military club should either play exclusively in the First League or, if it remains in the Premier League, its matches should not be counted in the standings for the other teams.
Thus, despite their shared stance on expanding the Premier League, "Gandzasar" and "Syunik" propose different approaches to the season format and the foreign player regulations, reflecting their strategic priorities in the development of Armenian football.
