Petrõkina Wins Gold Again: Day Three Results of the 2026 European Figure Skating Championships

On January 16, the third competition day of the 2026 European Figure Skating Championships took place in Sheffield. Medals were awarded in the women’s singles event, and the rhythm dance was held in ice dance.

The star of the day was 21-year-old Estonian skater Niina Petrõkina. She confidently won both the short program and the free skate, claiming the European title with a total score of 216.14 points. This marks Petrõkina’s second consecutive European Championship gold, confirming her status as one of the strongest skaters on the continent.

The silver medal went to Belgium’s Loena Hendrickx (191.26), who climbed from fifth place after the short program. Bronze was claimed by Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann (186.87). Another Belgian skater, Nina Pinzarrone, finished just outside the podium.

A strong performance was also delivered by Anastasiia Gubanova of Georgia, who posted the best free skate of the day and finished fifth overall, jumping up nine positions.

Ice Dance: Leaders After the Rhythm Dance

In the rhythm dance, the interim lead was taken by France’s Laurence Fournier Beaudry / Guillaume Cizeron with a score of 86.93. Close behind were the home favorites from Great Britain, Laila Fear / Lewis Gibson (85.47). Third after the first segment are the reigning European champions Charlène Guignard / Marco Fabbri of Italy (84.48).

The battle for medals in ice dance will continue in the free dance, where the final standings promise to be extremely tight.

On January 17, the final day of the championships, the winners in ice dance and men’s singles will be determined.
