Armenian Olympic medalist Hovhannes Bachkov will take part in the IBA 2025 Boxing World Championships, which will be held in Dubai. One of the leaders of the Armenian national team will enter the ring in the under-67 kg category, taking the place of his compatriot Armen Mashkaryan.
The 33-year-old boxer is a four-time world bronze medalist and will aim to win the world champion title for the first time in his career. Earlier reports suggested that he might miss the tournament due to a possible professional fight scheduled for December, but that bout was canceled, allowing Bachkov to compete in the main event of the year.
Bachkov will start the tournament from the round of 32, where his first opponent will be Nwate from Kenya.
All tournament brackets and the Armenian boxers’ opponents can be viewed here. The competition kicks off tomorrow, December 4.
