Armenia national team captain Varazdat Haroyan has signed a contract with Hungarian club Kolorcity Kazincbarcikai, which will make its debut in the top division (NB I) this season. The club's press service officially announced the transfer.
The 32-year-old center-back, who has 92 international caps, joined his new team after passing a medical and signing his contract. Last spring, he played for FC Pyunik of Yerevan, making 10 appearances in the Armenian Premier League. This summer, Pyunik head coach Yeghishe Melikyan no longer counted on Haroyan and advised him to find a new club.
“It’s a great honor for the club and the city to acquire such an experienced player. We were looking for a leader in the heart of the defense, and who better than the national team captain with nearly 100 caps? I’m sure he’ll contribute not only on the field but also to the development of our players,” said club director Miklós Simon.
“I signed the contract because my national teammates who play here said the Hungarian league is high quality and the country is beautiful. I know this is the club’s first season in the top tier, and I’ve come here to help them win. We’ll fight for every point, but also enjoy the journey,” Haroyan said.

Haroyan has 4 goals and 3 assists for the national team. Since 2022, he has been the official captain, though he first wore the armband in 2020.
In Hungary, Haroyan becomes the third active Armenia international in the league, joining Edgar Sevikyan and Georgi Harutyunyan.
