Borussia Mönchengladbach’s management has decided to part ways with head coach Gerardo Seoane after a crushing 0–4 defeat to Werder Bremen. After three rounds of the current Bundesliga season, the team has collected only one point.
Seoane had been in charge since 2023, but the results proved unsatisfactory. “After a thorough analysis of the start of the season, we concluded that we need to change the head coach,” said Roland Virkus, Gladbach’s managing director for sports. “After ten Bundesliga matches without a win across two seasons, we lost faith that a turnaround would be possible with Gerardo.”
Now Borussia is searching for a new coach. For Armenian fans, this decision is especially interesting: Armenia national team striker Grant-Leon Ranos may get a chance to prove himself under new leadership. Under Seoane, the forward rarely appeared on the pitch — usually for just 2–4 minutes at the end of matches. Only in the last round against Werder did Ranos get more playing time, coming on in the 74th minute.
The name of Borussia’s new head coach has not yet been announced.
