Krasnodar head coach Murad Musayev summed up the championship season in an interview with Sports.ru and shared his plans for the near future. One of the key topics was the future of midfielder Eduard Spertsyan, whose potential transfer remains a hot issue.
Musayev admitted that the club is actively working on strengthening the squad and especially needs reinforcements in central midfield — even if Spertsyan stays.
“We need another player in the middle of the pitch. Even if Spertsyan stays,” said the coach of the Bulls.
According to him, there are players at Krasnodar who can replace the Armenian midfielder, although their roles are somewhat different:
“We have Krivtsov and Kozlov for that position. When Spertsyan got injured in early spring, Nikita filled in well, although he feels more comfortable playing as a number eight, being more involved on the ball.”
The coach emphasized that Spertsyan’s future directly depends on the offers received, and he did not rule out the possibility of a transfer happening during the next season:
“It all depends on the offer. I wouldn’t rule out Spertsyan leaving during the season — in August, maybe a week before the transfer window closes.”
When asked whether such a scenario aligns with the club’s philosophy, given that Krasnodar traditionally focuses on stability and long-term planning, Musayev replied that the current transfer market demands flexibility:
“There’s a Club World Cup coming up, so we have to be ready for the fact that the clubs interested in Edo may not act very quickly.”
Thus, Krasnodar is considering different options and does not rule out the departure of one of its key players at the end of the summer transfer window. At the same time, the club continues searching for reinforcements to be ready for new challenges, including participation in European competitions and the potential impact of the Club World Cup schedule.
It’s worth noting that earlier reports linked Porto with interest in Spertsyan.
Eduard Spertsyan became the Russian champion in the 2024/25 season and stated right afterward that he’s ready to move to Europe.
