Murtazali Magomedov defeats Melsik Baghdasaryan with rare submission at UFC Vegas 119

Melsik Baghdasaryan suffered an early stoppage loss at UFC Vegas 119 in Las Vegas. The Armenian featherweight was defeated by UFC debutant Murtazali Magomedov in the opening stages of the first round.

The 26-year-old representative of Kyrgyzstan pulled off a rare submission — the twister — forcing Baghdasaryan to tap out.

The move is considered one of the rarest in UFC history. Before the fight between Magomedov and Baghdasaryan, twister victories in the promotion had been recorded only two or three times.

For Melsik Baghdasaryan, this was his second consecutive stoppage loss in the UFC. His professional MMA record now stands at 8 wins and 4 losses, including a 3-3 record in the UFC.

Murtazali Magomedov, meanwhile, made a successful UFC debut and preserved his perfect record — 11 wins in 11 fights. He previously competed in OLMMA and earned his UFC contract through Contender Series. All of Magomedov’s MMA victories have come by stoppage: 5 by knockout and 6 by submission.

Earlier at UFC Vegas 119, another Armenian fighter, Leon Shahbazyan, also suffered a defeat, losing to Levan Chokheli by technical knockout in the first round.
