Henrikh Mkhitaryan was one of the key figures in the Serie A Matchday 36 game between Lazio and Inter. The Milan club earned a convincing 3-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico, while the Armenian midfielder scored his team’s third goal and played the full match.
Inter came into this fixture already as Italian champions, but Cristian Chivu’s side showed that they had no intention of slowing down even after securing the Scudetto. The Nerazzurri completely outplayed Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio and made a strong statement ahead of the teams’ next meeting — this time in the Coppa Italia final.
Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring. For the Argentine forward, it was his 17th goal of the Serie A season, and he continues to lead the scoring race. Before the break, Inter doubled their advantage thanks to a goal from Petar Sucic.
In the second half, Lazio’s situation became even more difficult: with around 25 minutes left, Roman defender Alessio Romagnoli was shown a red card for a rough foul on Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed the final score. The Armenian midfielder joined the attack, received the ball inside the penalty area, beat Adam Marusic with a beautiful fake shot and fired with his left foot under the crossbar. It was Mkhitaryan’s second goal in as many matches, after he had previously scored against Parma.
For the 37-year-old footballer, this was another bright moment at the end of the season. Mkhitaryan once again showed that he remains an important figure for Inter not only because of his experience, but also thanks to his work in midfield, movement off the ball and ability to join attacks at decisive moments.

How Italian media rated Mkhitaryan’s performance
The Italian press generally rated the Armenian midfielder’s performance highly. Most outlets gave Mkhitaryan a score of 7.
Eurosport — 6.5
Among all the players in his team, for a significant part of the match he looked the least involved in the game. He seemed to run out of energy rather early, but then showed all his quality in the episode that led to the 3-0 goal.
Leggo — 7
Commitment, tactical intelligence and constant movement. An example for young players, an absolute guarantee for Chivu in terms of both quantity and quality. He finished the match beautifully by scoring the goal for 3-0 — his second in a row. Highlander.
Sport.Virgilio — 7
He improved in the second half, although he was not particularly dangerous. He scored the third goal of the match thanks to a run into the box, a feint against Marusic and a left-footed shot under the crossbar.
FCInter1908 — 7
He also did a lot of work in midfield, although he was not always precise. But he constantly supported the attacks, was not afraid to take responsibility with the ball and even rediscovered the taste of scoring. He is leaving in a very beautiful way.
Calciomercato — 7
Close to leaving, he clearly wants to say goodbye in a certain way and has scored his second goal in the last two matches. This time it came after a beautiful fake shot that took him past Marusic, followed by the finish that made it 0-3.
90min — 7
He runs as if he has four lungs. With his goal, he put Lazio back in their place just as they were trying to stick their head out of the shell.
Tuttomercatoweb — 7
A tough, real match — nothing like an end-of-season game with the objective already achieved. He chased every ball and allowed himself the pleasure of scoring: he controlled the ball softly, sent Marusic “for coffee” and left Motta with no chance.
Nerazzurri Siamo Noi — 6.5
In the first half, he did his job. After the break, he scored the goal that closed the match — his fourth since the start of the league campaign and his second in a row after the goal against Parma.
Inter and Lazio will meet again in the Coppa Italia final
The win over Lazio was a good rehearsal for Inter ahead of a more important match. On Wednesday, May 13, the teams will meet again at the Stadio Olimpico. This time, a trophy will be at stake — the 2025/26 Coppa Italia.
The final will kick off at 21:00 local time. For Inter, it is an opportunity to finish the season with another title, while for Mkhitaryan it is a chance to add another trophy to his collection and possibly play one of the last major matches of his professional career.
