Inter Milan became Italian champions ahead of schedule after defeating Parma 2-0 in the Matchday 35 fixture of Serie A.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan was one of the heroes of the match. The Armenian midfielder came on as a substitute in the 67th minute, replacing Piotr Zieliński, and scored the team’s second goal in the 80th minute. After a pass from Lautaro Martínez, Mkhitaryan found himself in front of goal and finished accurately with his left foot from close range. It was Mkhitaryan’s third goal of the season.
The scoring was opened in first-half stoppage time: Marcus Thuram found the net in the 45+1st minute, assisted by Zieliński.
The win over Parma allowed Inter to reach 82 points and secure the title with three rounds remaining. The Milan side now holds a 12-point lead over second-placed Napoli.
For Inter, this is the 21st Italian league title in the club’s history. Mkhitaryan became a Serie A champion with the Milan club for the second time in his career.
According to SofaScore, Henrikh’s performance was rated 7.4.
This season, Inter have recorded 26 wins in 35 league matches and boast the best attack in the competition. After the final whistle at San Siro, title celebrations began at the stadium and later continued across the city.
Cristian Chivu’s team still has another important match ahead — the Coppa Italia final against Lazio, which will take place on May 13.
