Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s future remains one of the main topics for Armenian football fans in the final part of the season. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Inter are ready to extend the 37-year-old midfielder’s contract until 2027, but the player himself is also considering another option — ending his professional career.
Fabrizio Romano has also reported on Mkhitaryan’s possible retirement from football. According to him, retirement is now a “very concrete possibility” for the Armenian midfielder. At the same time, Mkhitaryan has not wanted to consider offers from other clubs: the choice is effectively between another season at Inter and saying farewell to football.
Henrikh is expected to make his final decision very soon. For Inter, Mkhitaryan remains an important player not only on the pitch, but also in the dressing room. Despite his age, the Armenian midfielder continues to start matches and deliver results for the team.
The day before, Mkhitaryan played the full match against Lazio in Serie A Matchday 36 and scored a goal. Inter claimed a confident 3-0 victory, while Henrikh became one of the heroes of the game, scoring for the second match in a row.
Mkhitaryan has been playing for Inter since 2022. During this period, he has become a Serie A champion, won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup, and also reached the Champions League final with the Milan club. For Armenian football, Mkhitaryan’s possible retirement would be a historic moment: he is the most successful Armenian footballer of the years of independence.
For now, the intrigue remains. Inter are ready to keep Mkhitaryan for one more season, but the final word will belong to the player himself.
