Liana Gyurjyan — European U23 Champion in Weightlifting

23-year-old Armenian weightlifter Liana Gyurjyan has won the gold medal at the European Championships for Youth and U23 athletes, held in Durrës, Albania. This marks the fifth “big” gold medal for Team Armenia at the ongoing competition.
In the 86 kg weight category, which featured only four competitors, Gyurjyan dominated the field. She confidently won the snatch (102 kg), the clean & jerk (130 kg), and the total (232 kg) — earning three gold medals in total (two small and one big).

Liana Gyurjyan (Armenia) — 232 kg (102 + 130)
Darya Kheidzer (Belarus) — 221 kg (101 + 120)
Maria Karolak (Poland) — 210 kg (95 + 115)
Sarah Bechter (Germany) — 202 kg (91 + 111)
Gyurjyan showed perfect performance in the snatch (95 kg, 100 kg, 102 kg) and lifted 125 kg and 130 kg in the clean & jerk.
Her victory became an important contribution to Team Armenia’s overall success, which continues to shine at the continental championship with five major gold medals.
Earlier today, Emma Poghosyan also claimed gold in the U20 category.
