Iwu provided an assist in the RPL before joining the Armenian national team (video)

Armenian national team and Rubin Kazan midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu registered an assist in the Russian Premier League’s 7th round match against Orenburg.

This was already his second assist of the current season. Notably, in the previous two seasons with Rubin, he had not recorded a single assist.

The game ended in a 2:2 draw. Mirlind Daku opened the scoring after a long pass from Iwu. Later, Daku scored a brace from Jochic’s pass, with the attacking move once again starting from Iwu’s actions.

In the second half, Orenburg managed to equalize thanks to goals from Gedeon Guzina and Jordi Thompson.

After 7 rounds, Rubin sits 5th in the RPL table with 11 points.

Now, Iwu will join the Armenian national team, which will face Portugal and Ireland on September 6 and 9 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
