Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan could become one of the most experienced players in the history of UEFA club competitions in terms of appearances.
If Mkhitaryan takes the field tomorrow against Real Madrid, he will reach 163 appearances in European competitions and move into the top 14 players of all time by this statistic.
The Armenia national team captain currently has 162 matches in UEFA club tournaments:
- UEFA Champions League — 85 appearances
- UEFA Europa League — 65 appearances
- UEFA Conference League — 11 appearances
- UEFA Super Cup — 1 appearance
During the current season, Mkhitaryan has the opportunity to continue climbing the historical rankings. The Inter midfielder can overtake legendary players such as Lionel Messi and Thomas Müller, who have 167 European competition appearances each, and move closer to the top 10.
It is worth noting that among the players featured in the historical ranking, only Mkhitaryan and Luka Modrić continue to play at the European level.
