Three more members of the Armenian national team have advanced to the quarterfinals of the European U19 Boxing Championships being held in Loznica, Serbia.
Armenian boxers recorded three wins in three bouts on the fourth day of competition.
In the 55 kg weight category, Vahram Dovlatbekyan defeated Spain’s Manuel Bueno by split decision, 4-1. The victory also served as revenge for the Armenian boxer, who had lost to the same opponent at a tournament in Georgia several months earlier.
At 65 kg, Suren Katvalyan claimed a convincing victory over Moldova’s Catalin Mustea. All five judges awarded the bout to the Armenian boxer — 5-0.
Samvel Siramargyan, competing in the 80 kg category, produced a particularly dominant performance against Romania’s Georg Sebastian Balan. The Armenian boxer sent his opponent to the canvas three times before the bout was stopped in the second round, giving Siramargyan a TKO victory.
As a result, the number of Armenian boxers who have reached the quarterfinals of the European U19 Championships has increased to five.
Earlier, Tigran Kirakosyan in the 50 kg category and Eva Khlghatyan in the 54 kg category also secured places in the quarterfinals.
