Tigran Kirakosyan and Eva Khlghatyan Reach Quarterfinals of the U19 European Boxing Championships

Tigran Kirakosyan and Eva Khlghatyan have advanced to the quarterfinals of the U19 European Youth Boxing Championships, which is taking place in Loznica, Serbia.
On the third day of competition, Kirakosyan, competing in the 50 kg weight category, defeated Serbia’s Pavle Popovic in a closely contested bout by split decision, 3–2.
In the women’s tournament, Eva Khlghatyan (54 kg) secured a convincing 5–0 victory over Sofia Orlova of Belarus. The two wins sent the Armenian boxers through to the quarterfinals of the European Championships.
The other Armenian representatives who entered the ring on the third day of the tournament were eliminated from the competition.
In the 85 kg category, Tigran Sargsyan lost to Hungary’s Gyula Bozai by technical knockout in the third round. Vardan Avetisyan (90 kg) was also defeated by TKO in the third round, losing to Latvia’s Markuss Berke.
In the over-90 kg category, Aram Tumanyan lost to Russia’s Ivan Baibakov by technical knockout in the first round.
Suzanna Ishkhanyan (50 kg) was defeated by Turkey’s Azra Nur Cetin via unanimous decision, 0–5.
Armenia’s Suren Katvalyan (65 kg), Samvel Siramaryan (80 kg), Vahram Dovlatbekyan (55 kg), Anahit Harutyunyan (57 kg), and Elen Papayan (60 kg) also remain in contention at the European Championships.
