Pyunik head coach Yeghishe Melikyan commented on the departure of striker Yusuf Otubanjo and shared his expectations ahead of the return leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League second qualifying round against Hungarian side Győr (July 31, Győr) at the pre-match press conference. Recall that in the first leg in Yerevan, Pyunik won 2–1.
On losing Otubanjo:
“This is, of course, an unexpected loss. But this is football: his contract ends on August 1, and he had an offer from another club. He has given a lot to our club, so we let him go and didn’t take him to this match, as he had a very lucrative offer. It would have been wrong to bring a player here who is already thinking about another team. This is football, whether we like it or not, and there are no guilty parties here.”
On the upcoming match:
"Tomorrow will be a tough game. We managed to win at home with great difficulty, and away it will be even more difficult. We are psychologically and tactically prepared for everything. I don't think we will have problems tomorrow that we won't be able to solve, although the match will be really tough. We have studied our opponents even better and we know that they will play better at home. We will start with the thought that the score is 0:0, and we will try to win this match."
