Eduard Spertsyan set to join Al-Ahli: deal with Krasnodar completed

Armenia national team captain and Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan is close to joining Saudi club Al-Ahli. The deal is effectively complete, with only formalities remaining.

According to Saudi journalist and honorary member of Al-Ahli’s General Assembly Ramzi Al-Sulami, the Saudi club and Krasnodar have reached a full agreement over the transfer of the 26-year-old footballer.

The deal will be worth $25 million. It is noted that Spertsyan’s move was agreed on the recommendation of Al-Ahli sporting director Rui Pedro Braz.

The Armenian midfielder’s medical examination is scheduled for the coming days. After that, the transfer is expected to be officially completed.

Spertsyan is a Krasnodar academy graduate and has been one of the club’s leaders in recent years. With the Russian side, he became an RPL champion and was among the league’s most productive midfielders.

For the Armenia national team, this move would become one of the biggest transfers of recent years. At Al-Ahli, Spertsyan could continue his career in the Saudi Pro League, where many well-known European-level footballers are already playing.

Spertsyan will become teammates with players such as Ivan Toney, Enzo Millot, Edouard Mendy, Galeno and Franck Kessié. Riyad Mahrez, meanwhile, is expected to leave the team.
