Eduard Spertsyan officially joins Al-Ahli from Krasnodar

Armenia national team captain Eduard Spertsyan will continue his career in Saudi Arabia. The midfielder has officially become an Al-Ahli player.

Both clubs — Saudi side Al-Ahli and Russian club Krasnodar — have announced Spertsyan’s transfer. According to available information, the player has signed a contract under a “4+1” formula. The transfer fee is expected to be around €20 million, while the player’s salary, according to media reports, could reach €6 million per year.

Before signing the agreement, Spertsyan successfully passed his medical examination. The midfielder then joined his new team at their training camp in Austria.

Al-Ahli are one of the giants of Saudi and Asian football. The club are the reigning AFC Champions League winners and also finished third in the Saudi Pro League. The move to Al-Ahli will be the first foreign chapter of Spertsyan’s professional career.

Krasnodar gave a warm farewell to their captain. The club noted that Spertsyan is one of the most outstanding graduates of their academy. He made 185 appearances for the Bulls, registering 102 goal contributions — 58 goals and 44 assists. Spertsyan is also the second-highest goalscorer in Krasnodar’s history.

The 2024/25 season was especially significant for the Armenian midfielder, as he captained Krasnodar to the first league title in the club’s history. In the following season, Spertsyan was once again one of the team’s key players: he became the Russian Premier League’s top assist provider with 16 assists and also led the league in goals plus assists with 29 points — 13 goals and 16 assists.

Spertsyan leaves the Russian club as one of the best players in its history. Now the Armenia captain will try to prove himself at one of the strongest clubs in Asia.
