Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Edgar Petrosyan won the silver medal at the 2026 U20 European Championships in Skopje.

Petrosyan competed in the 55 kg weight category and confidently reached the final. Before the decisive bout, the Armenian wrestler had won three matches without conceding a single point.

In the round of 16, Petrosyan defeated Portugal’s Alexandre De Almeida 8:0. In the quarterfinal, he beat Sos Kotanjyan of France 9:0. In the semifinal, Petrosyan once again produced a dominant performance, defeating Romania’s Vlad Trip 8:0.

In the final, Edgar Petrosyan faced Azerbaijan’s Emin Javadli. The bout was intense, but the Armenian wrestler suffered a painful defeat while trailing 4:6, losing by fall, and finished the tournament with the silver medal.

Petrosyan’s silver became Armenia’s first medal at the 2026 U20 European Championships in Skopje.

Armenia still has two more finals ahead, as well as medal chances in the bronze bouts.
