European Wrestling Championships 2026 (Greco-Roman): First Finalists Announced

On April 20, the 2026 European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships kicked off in Tirana, Albania. On the opening day of the tournament, preliminary bouts were held, determining the finalists in the 55 kg, 63 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, and 130 kg weight categories.
Two wrestlers each from Russia and Georgia advanced to the finals, along with one representative each from Armenia, Moldova, Denmark, Turkey, Hungary, and Bulgaria.
Five wrestlers represented Armenia on the first day, and all of them remain in medal contention. Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) will compete for gold, while Manvel Khachatryan (55 kg) will fight for bronze. Karen Aslanyan (63 kg), Gevorg Tadevosyan (87 kg), and Albert Vardanyan (130 kg) advanced to the repechage rounds and still have a chance to compete for bronze medals.
