Ararat-Armenia have strengthened their defensive line ahead of the start of the Champions League qualifiers. The Armenian champions have signed 29-year-old Portuguese defender Bruno Wilson, who joins the Yerevan club from MLS side San Jose Earthquakes.
Wilson spent the last two seasons in MLS, where he scored 2 goals in 29 appearances.
Before moving to the United States, Bruno Wilson played in Portugal’s top division for Braga, Vizela and Tondela. In total, the defender made 79 appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and scored 5 goals.
Wilson has also been called up to Portugal’s youth and under-21 national teams.
Bruno Wilson’s market value is estimated at €600,000. The defender is 192 cm tall, making him a serious reinforcement for the centre of Ararat-Armenia’s defence.
On July 7, Ararat-Armenia will play their first match in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. The Armenian champions will face Latvian side Riga.
