Armenia’s Artur Avetisyan won the gold medal in the still rings event at the 2026 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
In the final, Avetisyan scored 14.400 points. Russia’s Ilya Zaika posted the same score, but the Armenian gymnast took first place based on the tie-breaking criteria.
Olympic champion Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece won the bronze medal with a score of 14.366 points.
Another member of the Armenian national team, Vahagn Davtyan, scored 14.000 points and finished fifth in the final. Armenian gymnast Artur Sahakyan, representing Germany, placed seventh with 13.900 points.

This is Avetisyan’s first European Championships gold medal. Last year, the Armenian gymnast won bronze at the continental championships, and now he has reached the top step of the podium for the first time.
Earlier today, the Armenian national team won two more medals in the pommel horse final. Hamlet Manukyan claimed the silver medal, while Mamikon Khachatryan won bronze.
Thus, Armenian gymnasts have now won three medals at the tournament in Zagreb. Tomorrow, Artur Davtyan will continue Armenia’s medal campaign when he competes in the vault final.
