Olympic champion and Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling star Artur Aleksanyan has set a new world record for grip strength among wrestlers. His result on a special measuring device reached an impressive 195 pounds (88.45 kg), surpassing the previous record of 186.6 pounds (84.64 kg) set by Iranian heavyweight Amir Reza Masoumi.
The challenge took place as part of a strength competition held one day before the start of the European Wrestling Championships in Bratislava. Aleksanyan not only took part in the contest but also demonstrated his physical power by exceeding the previous benchmark.
Tomorrow, on April 12, Artur Aleksanyan will begin his performance at the 2025 European Championships. In the round of 16, he will face Richard Karelson from Estonia.
